In British Columbia, you can add Extra to your Lotto Max ticket and play for more great prizes. There are only four numbers drawn and if you match them all you receive a payout of $500,000.
The BC version of Extra is different to games of the same name that are played in other provinces. Go to the Quebec Extra and Western Extra pages to see how these other games are played. Learn more about how BC Extra works below.
BC Extra numbers are randomly selected alongside every Lotto Max draw. The results are published shortly afterwards, followed by a prize breakdown showing all the payouts. Visit the Extra Numbers page to see the latest numbers.
It couldn’t be easier to play Extra in British Columbia. When you buy your Lotto Max ticket, there’s an option to say ‘YES’ to Extra. You then just have to decide how many Extra selections to add to your entry, up to a maximum of 10. It costs $1 per selection.
There’s nothing else to do when you play Extra. You don’t even have to choose any numbers, as they will be automatically generated and added to your ticket. Each Extra entry consists of four numbers from 1 to 99.
You have to play Extra alongside another lottery in British Columbia, whether it is Lotto Max, BC/49 or Daily Grand, so there are draws every day of the week apart from Sunday. It is not possible to play Extra separately.
You win the BC Extra jackpot of $500,000 if you match all four of the winning numbers from 1 to 99. A great feature of Extra is that, even if there are other winners, you will still be paid the half-a-million dollars. The jackpot is a fixed amount per winner and is not shared.
All the other prizes are fixed amounts too. You even win a prize just for matching one number. Take a look at the table below to find out all the available payouts and the odds of winning in each category.
